Conservation Legacy Initiative to Benefit Wildlife and Fisheries

(ContentDesk) January 1, 2006 -- Project: Zoo Quest, the nonprofit group founded by award-winning outdoors writer and author of the recently released book Flounder Fever, Chester Moore, is unveiling a new initative: Conservation Legacy.???We are at a crucial time in terms of wildlife and fisheries. We can keep forging ahead and take wildlife and fisheries conservation to a new level or we can let the issues that are facing the resources that we care so much about take us in the other direction, Moore said.???Conservation Legacy is about making that we keep making positive strides so that our children and grandchildren can experience the bounty of fish and wildlife that we enjoy today.???The program will feature a variety of events centered on raising awareness to issues facing fish and wildlife and raising funds for habitat conservation and related research.???The first project will be a southern flounder roundup on Sabine Lake Saturday March 25, Moore said.???Hurricane Rita caused a power outage at Sea Center Texas in Lake Jackson and it wiped out all of the flounder broodstock that were being used to study how the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) might possibly begin a stocking program for flounder in the future, he added.???TPWD will bring in two hatchery trucks so that anglers can make live donations of flounder to bring back to Sea Center. Project: Zoo Quest will take care of publicizing the event and working with a variety of sporting organizations and the community to get participants.???This is hands on conservation and a chance for anglers to help TPWD to do something positive for flounder populations. They are making this event happen and we are going to make sure they go home with plenty of flounder. Thats our role, Moore said.???Its one of Project: Zoo Quests goals and my personal dream to see flounder populations get back to where they were years ago, when it was not a problem to catch a limit.

We are totally committed to that.???Project: Zoo Quest is also planning a waterfowl conservation project to be announced some time in spring 06.???There are many issues surrounding waterfowl populations and hunting that have become apparent to me after years of research and observation. We feel it is important to take an active role in continuing the important legacy of waterfowl hunting and conservation, Moore said.???Anyone wanting to participate in the flounder roundup should send an email to Moore at saltwater @ fishgame.com.???Its important for everyone who loves the outdoors to ask what kind of legacy they want to leave behind. We want to make sure that legacy involves a strong conservation ethic..

Dodge Neon: From Race Track to Exquisite Interior

From 1928 to present, the Dodge is a brand name of automobiles and light to heavy-duty trucks that is marketed by the Germany-based DaimlerChrysler AG. Although, by looking at the brand's history, it was named Dodge Brother Motor Vehicle Company back in 1914 up to 1927. Come the year 1998, the Dodge was then acquired by Daimler-Benz, along with all other Chrysler subsidiaries. Now part of the DaimlerChrysler company, the Dodge, as of 2005, has become primarily known for its trucks. The trucks manufactured by the company account for a whopping 78 per cent of the division's sales.

However, the company is trying to change this status by introducing the new Dodge Charger.

One of the vehicles that is included in the Dodge brand's line up of creations is the Dodge Neon. Introduced in 1995, it had suffered a main criticism from patrons and enthusiasts ? being a car that lacks refinement. It also suffered from a lousy engine and a great deal of cabin noise. However, all...

The Benefits of Truck Tarps

Tarpaulins, often called tarps, are frequently used to cover and secure loads in different types of trucks.
Truck tarps can make carrying loads in pickup trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, and other types of trucks much easier.
Having a truck tarp is also safer, with less likelihood of the load falling off the truck and causing problems for the driver or for other vehicles on the road.

Truck tarps for pickups typically cost around $40.
Truck tarps for full size pickup beds are about $5 more.

These tarps are made to cover a full load in the bed of the truck, securing it and protecting it from the elements.
Good truck tarps come with hook and straps to secure the tarp to the truck bed and eliminate the need to tie complicated knots with rope to secure the tarp.

Truck tarps are also available for flatbed trailers.
Cargo such as lumber and steel cables are often carried in flatbed trailers.

Toyota Truck Recall: Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, and Sequoia

A wide scale recall is the last resort for a car company to take with a problematic vehicle, and most automotive problems do not even make it to recall stage. Toyota has been known to avoid issuing recalls at all cost, preferring to issue safety warnings and avoid covering repair costs on vehicles that are beyond warranty. This should put this year's massive Toyota truck recall into perspective. This May, Toyota Motor Corp issued one of its largest safety recalls in history. Toyota is recalling more than 750,000 pickup trucks and SUV's because of problems with the front suspension that could make the vehicles difficult to steer. The recall covers 775,000 vehicles in the United States alone, including 2001-2004 model years of the Toyota Tacoma, the 2001-2002 models of Toyota 4Runner and the 2002-2004 model Tundra and Sequoia.During the manufacturing of these vehicles, the surface of the front suspension ball joint was scratched.

Wear and tear on this ball joint creates friction...
